Architectural sculptures for your home and garden

By skilfully controlling light and colour, I create innovative glass, steel and slate sculptures that define and enhance the surrounding landscape or interior space.

Working from my studio in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, my inspiration comes from a love of the natural world – from the energy of the land and the pleasing symmetry found in nature’s own architecture.

Sungates
My current collection is inspired by my arrival at the historic Inca site of Machu Picchu in Peru. I witnessed how the alignment of the rising sun shining through the Sun Gate at the main entrance was specifically designed to gradually illuminate the citadel below, revealing the ancient buildings and surrounding landscape via elongated shadows and intense colours, displayed at their peak in the early morning.

Sungate

This series of sungates interprets the drama of the experience, recreating that true clarity of colour and form through the ever-changing dance of light and shadows.

With a hand-engineered steel core, each piece uses the time-honoured techniques of stained glass making with a contemporary twist, juxtaposing hand-knapped blue and green slate with the finest quality mouth-blown glass to create a harmonious whole that encompasses both strength and fragility.

Solstice [910mm]

Each piece is unique and individually crafted according to the architectural space around it, designed to create dramatic reflections from your chosen light source, natural or otherwise.

Ravine [440mm]

Currently sungates are available in diameters of 910mm, 610mm or 440mm. I am happy to accept commissions and other sizes can be made by prior arrangement.

Sculptures can also be custom engraved, etched or laser cut depending on your requirements, for example with:

Your house or company name
A special person’s name, with dates
A favourite motto or quotation
A personal dedication or memorial

An example of words etched into the sculpture’s steel core that can be personalised and incorporated into the overall design.

Little Owl [440mm; house sign with laser cut stainless steel inset. Also available in a softer weathered mild steel depending on clients’ personal preference.]

Tidepools I, II, III

I am currently developing my new collection, a series of three distinct designs in two different colourways inspired by the ocean – warm turquoise as above, and the more dramatic cobalt blues of the Mediterranean. Pre-orders are being taken now. I also try to keep a small selection of finished work available for immediate purchase
