Glass and Techniques

The importance of a good piece of work is in the high quality of the glass. I work with imported hand blown glass from Poland and Germany. This glass offers an infinite colour palette. It has a pure clarity that allows your eyes to travel inside so exploring the delicate water marks, little seeds and soft bubbles, whilst the clarity lets your eyes travel through to the distant horizon. I hand pick each piece of glass for its individuality and uniqueness .

Acid etching and sandblasting create depth and define detail, when the sun travels through the glass the etched area becomes pure white with an illuminating iridescence

Architectural glass

Handcrafted in the Suffolk countryside.

The process ...

The frames are hand fabricated in a beautiful Suffolk village, each piece is gently nurtured into place . Due to the nature of handcrafting and a combination that the mild steel frames don't out of choice want to bend in that direction each frame may slightly very in shape and size.

From here the frames are professional hot sprayed , I then hand finish them to give them a soft industrial finish, this is durable but will soften, mark and mellow down with the elements and time.

Then it's down to me to complete the project. Working from my studio at home I First cut the glass then hand draw and mask each and every flower and apply the acid etching. When I'm happy with this I move on to the traditional lead and stained glass techniques to complete the Architectural Panel in a time honoured way. After this the panels need to cure and rest up for a while.

Understandable this process can not be rushed. I therefore request a holding deposit of 10% to secure a place on my waiting list. When I am ready to make your panel I will require the remaining balance to be paid in full before I commence your order. These payments can be made through a BACs transfer. In order to get an idea how long your commission will take or to discuss any detail please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email.

I do hold a small stock so it's always worth while giving me a quick ring to see what I have got.

Lastly, I make every piece by hand, therefore colours and design may vary slightly from the photos. Larger panels will have more variation of colour and stained glass than the smaller ones. This also means I can make one off commissions just for you, colours can be customised and sizes can be changed.
